Exploring the inside of Eels

The inside of the Eel
                                                            The outside of the eel

On the 12th of march the year 5,6s dissected Eels they were the ones that we caught on camp.  Theses are the photos that I attached to my blog. Dissecting is a really nervous subject for teacher because we have to pick up sharp objects and some people be silly so It is great that Makaraka school lets us dissect animals or things Because we normally do this at high school. Why are we doing this? To explore Issues In the eel or where It came out of.Also Knowing how scientists live wouldn't that be  interesting inmagine smelling the lovely Eel smell. What stood out to me was the process that we had to do. From catching them to bringing them back to school and de slimming them but That was all part of the fun at makaraka school. I really enjoyed learning about the inside of the eel and thinking about what It aculty  eats and how It survives its  life . Theses are some facts that I found
  • There are over 400 species of eel.
Eels live in both saltwater and fresh water.Eels have gills and very sharp teeth
Isn't that Just so Interesting have you ever read about Eels
Also have you ever been Eel catching well I definitely have been because that is where I get my knowledge from.Well not just from Eeling also from my friends and teachers.

What has the year 5,6s been up to

When The Year 5,6s Dissect sheep hearts
As the day starts the school bell rings and we all run inside full with excitement
and laughter. We sure did know what was up next. It was Monday the 4 of
march 2019 and we knew that we were going to dissect Sheep hearts.

We sat on the mat ready to here what is up next and to here all the information.

So why are we dissecting? Well us year 5,6s are starting with the practise
version and then we are going to go to the next step and are going to try
and achieve information about animals.Next up we are going to dissect
the eels even better the Eels that the Year 5,6s caught. Hopefully we achieve
some information about them..
Up next Our teacher Mrs Hall said To get geared up and ready to dissect
the sheep hearts. Everyone just couldn't believe their eyes because apparently the hearts looked disgusting but to me they were just sheep hearts.

We got all our tools together and started digging in to the heart. We were all
really careful. Off we were all working together and making great decisions
around respect and safety. I must say we were talking a bit loud and a bit to
much. But that is something to improve on.

After we had finished dissecting the hearts we were covered in blood. But that is just the main part to get into the heart and to experience all the parts. We all beared the Hearts and we all had a soft heart with lots of thanks to people. We sang a song and said a kaiakia. That was an great experience.
